Prior to joining the Monarchs, Watson played a pivotal role in Missouri's success during the 2023 college baseball season. He was named to the All-SEC Second Team after leading the conference with 10 wins and posting an impressive 3.12 ERA.

Watson's collegiate accolades include being ranked among the top pitching prospects in the SEC. His exceptional performances on the mound have him pegged as a potential mid-round draft pick in the upcoming MLB Draft.

Monarchs Manager Joe Calfapietra praised Watson's abilities, saying, "We are very excited to welcome Michael to the Kansas City Monarchs. He is a young pitcher with tremendous potential, and we believe he can make an immediate impact on our pitching staff."

Watson expressed his eagerness to join the Monarchs and make his professional debut. "I am honored to have this opportunity to play for the Kansas City Monarchs, a team with a rich history and a loyal fan base," said Watson. "I am determined to contribute to the team's success and put on a great show for the fans on the Fourth of July."

The Monarchs are excited to showcase Watson's talent at their home opener on Independence Day. The game against the Sioux Falls Canaries will be a special celebration of America's freedom, with fireworks and a post-game concert by country music star Jake Owen.

Tickets for the Fourth of July game are on sale now and can be purchased through the Monarchs' website or at the box office. Fans can expect a memorable and patriotic evening filled with baseball, music, and fireworks.

The Monarchs have a long history of developing and showcasing talented players, and they are confident that Watson will continue this tradition. The team is looking forward to seeing him pitch in front of their home crowd and contribute to the team's success throughout the season.
